Is it true that you write 100-pg papers in graduate school?

I don't think 100 page papers are routine for grad students, but in order to get a PhD you have to do original research and write a thesis about it. A thesis is kind of like a final project- if your thesis isn't good enough you don't get the degree. In some fields a thesis could definitely be 100 pages long, though in other fields it might only be a few dozen pages. But no matter how long the paper is, it's the result of years of research. Writing a hundred pages doesn't seem so bad when you remember that they're summarizing a project they've worked on for years.
