What is the actual evidence of our evolutionary past?

This is what one of the question on my worksheet says. "Describe the various means by which the evidence of our evolutionary past is gathered, analyzed, and interpreted. What do you feel are several of the more significant findings?" I don;t understand what the first part of the question is asking, and I don't know what findings they have besides the bones that form lucy and the things like neanderthals... please help.
