Do sunflowers and purple orchids go together?

My girlfriend is in Costa Rica and her birthday is coming up. Her favorite flower is the sunflower but seeing as that is ussually associated with autumn i am trying to liven the bouquet I am getting for her with purple orchids rising above a bunch of sunflowers. would i be breaking some flower arranging law in doing so?
